Lucky for Robe s Tom O Reilly, there was a dire need for brewers when he finished his Bachelor of Science seven years ago.
It may seem like an unexpected career choice for a plant and soil science major with an interest in human biology and agroecology. [With beer making], you re basically trying to hit a whole range of different numbers, temperature, timing, pH levels and sugar concentrations, Mr O Reilly said.
To do all of that by hand, he said, took a lot of time and skill.

Many shopping habits and trends have emerged since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, not the least of which is a significant spike in alcohol purchases. Nationally, Nielsen found a 54 percent increase in alcohol sales during the week ending March 21, 2020, over the same week in 2019. Meanwhile, online sales during the same period jumped 262 percent from 2019.

To analyze trends in alcohol purchases throughout the pandemic, online grocery ordering and delivery company Mercato looked at data on orders placed between March 22 and July 31, 2020.
The study looked at a total of 15,002 total orders of alcohol, a representative sample for total alcohol order activity on the platform with a margin of error of 1 percent. Orders were compiled across 108 unique U.S. zip codes and included 42,695 individually sold units of alcoholic beverages.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. â As many struggle due to the pandemic, the opening of a St. Pete brewery illustrates Tampa Bayâs business resiliency.
After retiring from a career in insurance, Kevin Milkey took a risk, opening Grand Central Brewhouse in December.
âDefinitely been a dream come true to finally open,â said Milkey.
Grand Central Brewhouse, located at 2340 Central Avenue, is an expansive indoor/outdoor space that offers a beer garden, games, and taproom.
The new business in St. Peteâs Grand Central District created two-dozen jobs.
âWe can do this safely, we can do this responsibly without making every Friday night a super spreader event,â said Sean Nordquist, Executive Director of the Florida Brewers Guild.
Senate bill could allow alcohol delivery to your front door
Senate bill could allow alcohol delivery to your front door By Branden Walker | January 28, 2021 at 8:45 PM CST - Updated January 28 at 10:16 PM
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - A bill in the Mississippi Senate could allow alcoholic beverages to be delivered to your front door.
Senate Bill 2804 would create a delivery service permit to allow for the delivery of alcoholic beverages, beer, light wine, or light spirit products from a licensed retailer to your home.
Under the bill, stores that sell alcohol could contract with delivery service permit holders to deliver alcohol to their customers. Retailers could also deliver the alcohol themselves if they receive the delivery permit.
